My Man with Facial Hair Writes an Essay

Check out my favorite professor and poet, Martin Cockroft, looking rather debonair with chops, at the Writers in the Schools blog.

And read "My Story of Life" by Erika, third grade, under Feb. 16. If we could write like children again!

Thanks for looking at it. I'm biased, but I think it was well written.

Thanks for mentioning the WITS blog. I agree, Martin is a great teacher. Here's the link to Ericka's piece:

I just found and read Martin's piece.
Very thoughtful.

It has to be tough teaching in this day and time.

I just stopped for a fast food calorie bomb (hey I was on the go, some slack needed here!)

I gave the young girl behind the register a twenty, a quarter and a dime for a 5.34 meal.
She had to ask for help to figure out how much change I had coming.

It is infuriating and shocking how badly our public schools have degraded since my school days in the sixties.
They have left several generations of kids adrift without basic skills needed to survive in an adult world.

Thank God for people like Martin!
